Task 1: Academic integrity

Academic integrity is a significant aspect that determines the success of the students in their academics. This implies that students should complete their assignments and present their original work and they should never get any form of assistance from a third party. Academic integrity entails adhering to the academic honesty policies that have been formulated by the University. An individual should do his or her work even if a friend offers to help as far as the aspect of academic integrity is concerned (Bretag, 2016). Academic integrity demands students to write their papers and cite from relevant sources according to the provided guidelines. Citing the sources is quite crucial because it signifies the credibility of the information presented. Academic integrity implies reporting an individual that has created in the exam or an assignment for relevant actions against him or her based on the University’s policies.

The violation of academic integrity results in disciplinary action against the student which may lead to expulsion from college. Breaching of academic integrity can also fail the course and the student might be required to pay huge amounts to re-sit the exam. The most common form of violation of academic integrity is plagiarism where an individual can present another person’s ideas as his or her own. Fabricating is also a violation of academic integrity where an individual falsifies the information during citing when they haven’t used such citations to obtain the information for the paper.

Academic integrity is important for a student because it enhances an effective understanding of the course. A student that handles all his or her assignment understands the course concepts and can hardly experience challenges in the future profession. Academic integrity is also important because it boosts a student’s confidence upon entering the examination room which results in success. Academic integrity makes the professor to trust a student and will be sure that the person has acquired the crucial knowledge from the module. Working with integrity enhances the trust of your employee towards you at the workplace which results in promotions.

Task 2: Achieving Academic Integrity

Peterson and David Kolb identified experimental learning. These are the important aspect that I have learned and applied as a student. The leaning process for a student should be concerned with the internal cognitive process. Certain abstract concepts can be employed by the learned in a range of various ways. According to this theory, Kolb and Peterson argue that knowledge can only be created by the transformation of experience. However, there are four cycles of experience. They include the concrete, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization and finally active experimentation. The learner is in a position to apply the ideas after these four steps throughout the world.

Time management is one of the key skills that a learner is expected to have. One of the reasons why a student should learn to manage time is to avoid distraction. It is easy to avoid unnecessary distraction if there is proper planning of time for a learner (Kervin & Barrett, 2018). Also, the success of a learner is dependent on time management. There is no successful student who never learned the art of managing time. Finally, all the obligation are easily done by the student if at all time management is a priority.

Critical thinking is of the virtues that are inclined to the development of skills and ideas. A critical thinker must be strongly reflected in his beliefs and compare them with the beliefs of others (Paul & Elder, 2019). By critically thinking, one is in a position to listen to other people’s ideas, dissect them and ultimately raise an argument. This leads to the development of new skills and ideas.

Task 3: Models of Business Communication

There are several models of business communication. Two of them are Newcomb’s Inter-Personal Communication model and Hoveland’s Persuasion Model. Newcomb’s Inter-Personal Communication model involves the sender and receiver. The model also involves a third party who may come between the initial parties. The third-party, however, may be very influential in business communication (Mayfield & Mayfield, 2017). Some of the application of this model in a business setting is the use of middlemen in contracts and also in the distribution chain. The later model in this study entails a business model in which the information is made from one source. The message is continuously taken to the receiver from the sender. However, the feedback can be delivered to the sender. Some of the remarkable examples include adverts. The source of the message is always from the seller.

There are several ways where business communication may not be as successful as expected. One of the bottlenecks for the failure of business communication is a scenario where the executives are not strict on the organization charts. This leads to misunderstanding hence communication is not effective (Hussain, 2017). The other cause of failure is having too many ways of communication in an organization. This leads to confusion hence failure in the channel of communication. Finally, a communication that is not explicit is a breakdown in business communication.
