Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is a nurse with a multifaceted knowledge base in nursing with clinical competencies. (APPN). The minimum entry level is a masters degree or post-masters degree in nursing to be registered by the United States Board of Nursing.
APRN is licenced to provide care to patients within the population. Moreover, some states have they have been authorized to practice prescription of drugs independently without the oversight of a physician. This paper seeks to discuss the role of APRAN in safe medicine and barriers to APRNS.
ARPNS are to Evaluate properly and define the problem patient before prescribing a specific medication to them to avoid poor erroneous prescription of drugs to patients. Besides, a nurse should clearly understand the appropriate drug therapy to be administered to the patient regarding pharmacokinetics principles and then select the proper medication.
Furthermore, the patient should be informed on the drug to be administered with its instructions and warnings before it its actual administration.
Nurses are key in the central communication plan in the patient’s recovery plan. As the patient recovers, nurses observe various aspects on the patients.
The cost of the drug should be considered while administering a drug without interfering with the quality of the drug to be administered so that the patient is not exhausted.
