Aesthetic Project: Taking Care of a Covid-19 Patient in Quarantine
Summary of the Aesthetic Project
The project was completed over a period of 1 month, beginning from 18th May to 8th June. The group decided to take care of our neighbor, who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. The duties were divided amongst the group members. Throughout the project, the group ensured that they would keep themselves safe and the people with whom they interacted.
Skills/Performance Indicator
The aesthetic project was to go grocery shopping and help in their garden at the back of the house. The group decided that they would always have to involve the family during their isolation period. Therefore, we decided that we would create a WhatsApp group where we would always engage with the family. Hope Rudzinski (2020) provided that during this time of social-distancing, then social media should be our go-to option. We would, at times, have a group video chat as it helps them to forget about the situation that they are currently facing (Rudzinski, 2020).
In the garden, we decided to water and weed her vegetables. However, we decided that we have to involve her in the process since she may have a different pattern. In addition, we decided to include Flax flowers around her house. We decided on the color turquoise because it is a color of calm, healing, and cleansing (American Addiction Centers Resource Editorial Staff, 2020). Therefore, we ensured that whenever they looked outside the window, then they could see the flowers. In addition, we decided to get them more blue utensils and paintings as a way of promoting peace and tranquility as they are inside the house. Tara Rae Hill (2008) provides that the environment that an individual is in plays a huge role in influencing their recovery process. Therefore, we needed to try to create a therapeutic environment.
