Air Cargo Security
Summary
As it is vividly known historically that air cargo shipment security has undergone many challenges and therefore leading to the creation of many security measures that could foresee its growth amidst the challenges. It has been noted that over the past few years, attention has been devoted to ensuring that air cargo loaded is safe. To make this a success, the U.S has assured that there is a regulatory body for the safety of U.S air cargo shipments and foreign shipments into and out of the U.S. The government entity is identified as the Transportation Security Administration [TSA].].
Air cargo shipment is one of the best modes of transport since it is faster and therefore guaranteeing its security is one of the best ideas. Measures have been put in place for its safety Like goods protection, and air cargo security emerged as a poorly organized, inconsistent, but relatively productive collection of practical and managerial components based on the avoidance of smuggling. Resolving possible threats needs safety measures throughout the supply chain to ensure that actual inspection and screening is performed using methods and technologies that met legal requirements. We are told that traditionally, air cargo composed of high-value goods for which air the higher cost of air shipping was a fair trade in health and business.
To curb the insecurity on air cargo, the resultant systems of new Products have been designed to minimize the risk for diversion of products by persons inside the job environment or by external factors. Terror attacks have been battled in this sector for several decades, but the fact is that the danger cannot be mitigated soon. For example, the explosion of Pan Am Flight 103 caused by a bomb exists to serve as painful reminders that the work securing the skies is far from done. The TSA has ensured that safety remains at the focus of the airport cargo agenda and needs constant attention and oversight of the law agencies’ rules and regulations further initiative enacted by the TSA is to ensure that the airport does not have a central role in cargo screening but retains a service of support. The TSA has also identified essential aspects to be addressed, including perimeter security, vehicle safety, monitoring and identification of unauthorized persons at the airport, and response to emergency law enforcement.
It was also decided that the Security Coordinator must appoint at least one Airport Security Coordinator across each airport whose function is to help make sure that there will be coordination with the TSA from the specific airport and that the staff also have the power to enact appropriate corrective action.
Personal Opinion
The stability of a country’s economy depends on its level of security. There is still a great challenge on cargo security despite the current air transport screening equipment progresses. Even now, the cargo tendering process appears to be a concern at major gateway airports. .I, therefore, propose that improving the use of canine technology by increasing its speed will do the whole system well. Safety increases loyalty, and TSA must, thus, function through its means to ensure that all laws in place are adhered to, and that integrity is exercised. The use of advanced technologies in the whole program is also essential. Hence, those companies with a high profile in the technology field should be incorporated to work hand in hand to solve these long-lasting problems.
