Investors for the past years have been highly investing in alcohol drink firms since many people are alcohol consumers. Some people perceive alcohol as a means of reducing stress and depression that why many end up misusing and becoming alcohol addicts. Alcohol consumption has many side effects like liver problems which threaten the life of people. Due to the health problems caused by alcohol, many people have shifted away from it. This essay discusses the state of the industry on what to come for alcohol in 2019.
Alcohol consumption is reducing because many consumers value their health and wellbeing by shifting to alcohol alternatives. Consumers nowadays value the quality of products over the quantity of why there has been the continued growth of craft beer and craft spirits in the alcohol industry. In 2019 it is expected that there will an increase in the growth of craft beer since consumers are shifting to craft breweries. For example, the article has shown that one thousand craft beer is expected to open in the US in 2019. In some countries like Georgia, craft growth is limited because of very restrictive liquor laws which restrict the direct sale of beer. Traditional drinks like mead, gin, and ginger beer have reduced because consumers are more interested in premium that why in 2019 growth of canned spirits increased. In the US, there are more than 1500 distillers of craft spirits. Approximately 28% of millennials drink wine every day because of colorful designs, logos, and catchy names. Though many factors are influencing the growth of wine, spirits, and craft beer in the industry like strict laws and poor infrastructure, their growth is expected to increase in 2019.
To conclude, most firms in the industry will shift to alcohol alternatives to meet consumer’s demands. Consumers are keener about their health and wellbeing that why in 2019 they have moved to alcohol alternatives like craft beer, craft spirits, and wine. Though alcohol alternatives are not that friendly to consumers health, it’s my opinion that there should be restrictive laws to beverage firms to control alcohol consumption and preserve consumers health.
