America

America has long been known for its greatness. Both in the economy and politically wise. Hence the privileged term of the American Dream. The paper will focus on the reasons as to why the Dream is diminishing by applying the Toulmin structure of argumentative research. The claims made will be backed from researched data, through the use of journals, books and websites.

The points to be highlighted include reasons as to why the Dream is being sought. Giving reasons why it is held in high regard and why people prefer having it in high-income countries. This is done through a personally researched survey. The survey consisted of mixed ethnic groups and the analyzing of their opinions to deduce information. Racism and how it affects immigrants and citizens. Racism has been on the spotlight as indicated by progressive Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Unsafety caused by racial attacks hinders economic progress to all individuals in a country. Creating measures that reduce racial attacks would create a peaceful environment for the economy to thrive. Even though there are measures that hinder the racial attacks, there is still a lot to be done. The atmosphere it creates and how people respond to the actions done.

Immigration laws that cause upheavals for immigrants limit their financial progress. This includes some of the laws countries set and looking into the effects it has caused. The story of Diane Guerrero, a survivor of the harsh immigration laws, depicts such circumstances many faces. Being separated from parents, due to undocumented irregularities, leaving her stranded with no familiar care and support. The details of what she endured and how she was able to survive and attain the American Dream is one of hardships and pain. There should be more laws that entail specifications of what happens to immigrants separated from their families. Especially young children who solely rely on parental care. Although there are centres that handle the care of separated families, they are few and far apart. More centres should be put up and made accessible to every immigrant seeking refuge. The paper also details political views on the legislation of the immigration laws. Done from the point of view of both the countries, human rights organization and the individual immigrants being affected. In so doing, I aim to create a semblance of what is happening to immigrant pursuers of the American Dream. The immigration laws are those that regulate the working and living conditions of immigrants. They also regulate categorically possible immigrants allowed into a country. Having strict immigration laws keep a high percentage of immigrants from seeking refuge and possibly attaining the American Dream.

Immigration laws should be in such a way that immigrants can access a country but maintain the country’s jurisdictional laws. Imposing such ensures both parties are satisfactorily enjoying benefits. Although the current immigration laws create favourable outcomes allowing people into the country, the deportation procedures are still lacking. Families get separated and deported without prior preparation causing more strain on families. Through using organizations such as Casa de Paz, I’ll warrant and justify efforts being made to combat the outcomes of the immigration laws. Referencing the circumstances faced by Diane Guerrero, she was separated at a tender age and left alone in America while her family got deported. Being rendered alone at such a tender age is mentally unhealthy and physically straining to children. Regulating deportation laws to consider such scenarios can help elevate the living conditions of immigrant families. There should be laws that consider American-born citizens with undocumented parents who are still of a young age. Although centres such as Casa de Paz exist, helping to bring together separated families, more is needed to sustain immigrants in the long term. Just in order to ensure they get equal opportunities for achieving the American Dream.
