Analysis of an essay
- What is the essay’s title? If there isn’t one, could you suggest a title?
The essay is titled an annotated bibliography as it includes more than one text from different authors. However, I would suggest “Analysis of The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov” as the main title of the essay then proceed with the annotated bibliography titles.
- What text(s) has the writer chosen to discuss in the paper?
Are the titles and authors introduced early on in the paper?
The writer has chosen to discuss different themes portrayed in The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov. In the first annotated bibliography, the writer has decided to discuss the topic of dysfunctional love. The writer introduces the author and the title of their work before beginning the analysis of the work. In the second annotated bibliography, the writer is writing about the theme of social class, class conflict, and discrimination. This annotated bibliography also mentions the author and the title before beginning the analysis. The third annotated bibliography the writer explores as to whether the Cherry Orchard by Chekhov is a comedy or a tragic play. The authors and titles are also mentioned before analyzing the book.
- Is there correct MLA styled in-text citations and works cited list to document the source(s) used in the essay?
The MLA in-text citations used in the paper by the writer are wrong. According to the MLA format, in-text citations should include the Authors surname followed by the page number the writer is quoting from. However, the writer in this paper includes the name of the author and the page number but goes ahead and writes the year of publication of the articles they are analyzing. The third annotated bibliography does not have any in-text citations. The works cited list is correctly formatted in MLA.
