The catholic churches in western Europe rose after the fall of the Roman Empire. When Rome got weakened the catholicism took the opportunity and spread out through some parts of Europe like Irish

The history of the catholic as the main Christian penetrated through Europe despite the prosecution and the struggle that existed between them pagans.  The conflict of the early churches was eased by the allowing of Christian faith by the emperor Constantine I. under emperor Theodosius I the churches and Christian faith become the state religion and pushed till the fall of Roman Empire where the catholic churches got established fully. After the fall and destruction of the empire, the churches took the role of protecting classical civilization and established the monasteries and eventually commissioned people to go and convert peoples from other regions like northern Europe. During the time the catholic churches faced rivalry with Arianism on who was to convert the barbarian tribes. But, with the conversion of Clovis pagan king of the frank established ground for a steady growth of catholic faith.
