Among the activities listed in the Activities section, I would most preferably continue in music. Luckily, the University of Michigan has a premier multicultural Acappella group already set up, 58 Greene, where I would nurture my talent further and enhance my love for music, which is what ties the members together. This would be an opportunity for me to create something bigger than myself and give back to the campus community. It would also present a chance to extend my academic life beyond the coursework and learn leadership lessons, connect with other colleagues and explore and get to understand new worlds.
I am a resident of Texas State. It is one of the largest states, geographically located in the southern U.S, bordering Mexico. It has numerous communities which are characterized by their various unique traits, most of which are categorized either by their geographical position, intellectual heritage, and income or even religion. Some of the communities are ranked higher, healthier and wealthier than others according to research conducted by U.S News.
I belong to the Brownsville community in Cameron County. Their Hispanic trait greatly characterizes the city. According to the U.S News research, the community is ranked highest among the communities where English is not the majority language spoken at home, Spanish is the language spoken in most homes. This case is majorly alluded by the proximity of the community to Mexico. It is adjacent to the border with Matamoros, Mexico. Mexico is known to be a Spanish speaking country. My Spanish intellectual heritage characterizes my personalities. Based on religion and given my Latin culture, I am identified as a Christian, with Rome nativity.
The University of Michigan is well known for offering excellence across all its disciplines, including the schools and colleges. The institution gets a lot of preference for its outstanding educational quality. The university also offers extensive and varied areas of study, more than 260 areas of study. I am applying as biochemistry major and among the many qualities that attract me to this specific college is the quality of learning and experience offered in the said college. According to the university’s statistics, the University is ranked as the best regarding providing the best quality results among those offering the major. The method of ranking takes into account the quality of education, accreditation, and average earnings of graduates among several other factors which proves to be the best place to pursue Biochemistry major.
Furthermore, graduates with a Biochemistry major have a higher pay boost compared to other college graduates. With a 9.0 percent boost in pay, it is ranked thirtieth among 121 majors about the income potential. Also, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where students pursue the major, is among the best schools in the U.S, producing graduates who are more than the standard Biochemistry student. Studying Biochemistry major will equip me with the necessary and sufficient knowledge concerning the body’s chemistry as provided for by the curriculum. I will gain a better understanding of almost all diseases and drugs and how they act to alter the body’s chemistry. Biochemistry plays a central role in medical sciences dealing with diseases and drugs. I will also learn so much more about life from a chemical point of view.
