Art work
The subject of art is a matter that is portrayed by an artist. The subject may be a person, an object, an event, or a particular scene. Art has different forms of presentation. There is realism, abstraction, symbolism, Dadaism, fauvism, futurism, impressionism, and surrealism. In this paper, we discuss the realism method of art presentation. The practical approach was as a result of a French movement of art that took place in the 1850s. The productivity and development of this type of art presentation grew as a result of the introduction to photography, which represented a new source of visual and enabled the artists to have the desire to create and produce art that is objectively real. The central ideology behind this form of presentation was the ideology of objective reality, which was undistorted by personal bias. The method also revolted against emotionalism that was exaggerated. The ways represented the presentation of art according to the subject of objective reality. The method portrays only what the eyes can see, what the ears can hear, and what sense that can be received. This type of approach is realistic. It is accurate, and it is copying every single detail. On the other hand, the art of alteration is the type of art in which one finds an object and alters it creatively, an example of the persistence of memory by Salvador Dai. This method of presentation entails the making of ordinary things looks extraordinary.
An example is the creation of Adam by Michelangelo. This is a type of real art of work. The truth behind this artwork is that the painting presents a description of the time that God made Adam, being the first man in the world. This legendary piece of work is found in the middle of the Sistine Chapel ceiling in the Vatican museum. The piece of art is a clear definition of the reality of the situation. For instance, there is a gap between Adam, who is on earth, and God, who is flying since his air is floating in the wind. According to the biotical stories, God made Adam in His image, and as per the piece of art in the Sistine Chapel, there is a similarity between the two men. However, it is clear that by just looking at the painting, one can tell the story behind it. The eyes see what they see, and the ears hear what they hear. There is a clear definition of object reality. What is expected of the image and what is thought about the story about the subject, in this case, the scene of God giving life to Adam, is what is presented in the painting.
On the other hand, is the art by Salvador Dai on the persistence of memory. The painting was done in 191, by Salvador, a well-recognized artist. Persistence of consciousness is a piece of work that showcases the extraordinary nature of an everyday item, the clock. A clock is an object that provides time. The time presented, however, escapes us on various levels, like when we are asleep, in recreation, or when busy. In Salvador’s piece of work, the clocks are melting away, thus not persistent. Besides the ants in the art eating away, the red clock represents the human beings imperfect nature of their chance of keeping time. In this case, through the alteration of art, Salvador took a well-known object; the clock transformed it into a piece of work that symbolic and legendary in its work.
Both the practical and alteration methods of art presentation are unique methods of presenting art. However, these two ideologies work in different theories. The photographic exhibition aims at objective reality, while the art alteration is more concerned with the unreal in an object. As the names suggest, these two methods are different from each other as one is all about real while the other alters with the real.
The renaissance is a new style in painting, sculpture, and architecture developed after the Gothic. It is characterized by paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts that originated with the occurrence of technology, science, music, literature, and philosophy in European history. The art is attributed to Greek and Roman art, mastering of illusionistic techniques of painting, the belief in humanism, and its aspect of realism that maximizing the emotional nature of the art. The renaissance art was a period in which artists were able to express their idea and opinions. Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, the creation of Adam, is one of the most exceptional art examples in renaissance art. The art pieces of the time were more advocated for due to their naturalism. In this case, there is a similar description between the renaissance art and practical method of art presentation.
Art is a complex phenomenon that requires a clear, analytical, and ideological perspective for one to understand. However, some methods of art presentation like the realistic method make the interpretation of art much less challenging for most, like in the case of The Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, the creation of Adam. On the other hand, other forms of art, like the persistence of time by Salvador Dai, try to change the natural to extraordinary. The renaissance art, on the other hand, tells the story of the history and the period we are in.
