Asch’s Conformity.
Asch’s conformity video presents useful research to study the effects of group behavior on an individual. The study is carried out in a room where every participant is supposed to respond to the various questions asked. Though the video presents an excellent forum in analyzing the effects of group mindset and thoughts on an individual, I think it does not show the real aspects of an investigation as the influence of the response may not apply in all aspects of life. The video does not look at the practical behavioral element of the group is not at home. The video is useful in the study as the people are all relaxed and seem to be sound in mind as research methods require. Asch’s conformity video shows various analytical ways in the decisions people make. The video is an experiment on how people are giving in to the perception of the majority. Asch’s Conformity video is a test to examine the conduct or behavior of people under social forces.
On the third trial, the subject is very sure that the others’ answer is wrong, but he gives it too as the correct one (Doc, 2014). The issue seems to be in doubt as he responds, but because he has to give in to the influence of the group, he gives the wrong answer. From his own eyes, he can see that the response he is giving is incorrect and yet proceeds to be guided by the group’s perception. He gives the wrong answer just because the other group members have given it as the answer.
Writing the responses does not affect the group’s pressure much, but at least the respondent is relieved of the criticism from the group (Doc, 2014). When the subject is to write the responses, he can write the perception of his judgment without fearing criticism, but only a few people can also heed to the group’s pressure.
