Asian discrimination
Asian discrimination in America, not only due to the current xenophobia, Corona Virus but tracing it back from the history of America. Chinese Americans have been, for a long time, been denied the opportunity of becoming Americans. Various policies were set in place to inhibit Chinese from migrating to America; to an extent, Zhou discusses how the Chinese Americans were used as testing or medical scapegoats. The notion of Asian Americans as forever foreigners is traced back in history, World War II. An extensive delineation of the root of racism in America, the current social pandemic, Coronavirus, and its relation to the current condition and connection of the virus origin to Wuhan, China.
Moreover, a connection between how the present leaders deepen the social issue (discrimination) is a significant focus. The concept of “forever foreigners” is a substantial focus in the article, which provides a foundation to the origin and causes of discrimination of Asian Americans and Chinese in America. Discrimination on a racial basis is relevant and suits the focus of the portfolio. Before the Incidence of Coronavirus, racial discrimination has been in existence in America. Tracing back to the history of Asian Americans, in the 1800s, various laws and policies were enacted to bar Chinese Americans from migrating to America due to the widespread concerns regarding the xenophobia and occupation competition for occupations. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was among the most primitive laws relating to the social challenge. Also, in San Francisco, more than 14,000 Chinese were aimed to be sent to detention camps so they could be cut off from other members of the public.
The social challenge, racial discrimination, is also expressed in various social welfare policies and development programs; discrimination based on housing, justice, housing, and access to occupation opportunities. Asian Americans and Chinese in America have less access to better living conditions as compared to Americans. The progress of the social challenge is currently devised. The emergence of the Corona pandemic has triggered social welfare; instead, it has instigated more discrimination from the president of America.
