Assessment of My Project During the Media Literacy Week
My project for Media Literacy this week was a research exercise to identify how we interact with different media journals in existence. In the exercise, I sought out to find the different types of media that have been employed by various researchers and workers in the media industry, and how the people perceive the media journals.
This project was successful since the application of the existing technology and the internet made the research possible. I employed both the internet and direct observation in the daily lives of people. Additionally, the project was made a success thanks to the availability of the different informative resources on the internet. There was space for improvement on the project if I would have opted to shift a larger percentage of my focus to peer-to-peer interviews. I came to realize that the online perceptions of people on the internet do not offer a specific environment-based idea of real-world experiences. Rather, I would have done better if I took all my information collected from the sample population myself.
I helped to make the media literacy week a success through my significant contribution to the project I took. With a group of students who took separate projects but referred to my findings since I gave them a key starting point for their projects. I made it clear on how people came into contact with the media and how they perceived them. In the course of the Media Literacy Week, I did not manage to attend significant events other than classes because my project was time-consuming and therefore required some of the time that could have been spent away from the events.
