Assignment 6 Discussion
When developing a comprehensive prevention and control program, the main aim is to control infections likely to be transmitted in a healthcare facility. Selection of good materials to use when assessing and evaluating the project is necessary. Quality improvement projects aim to make positive changes in health care processes and system so that they can give desirable outcomes that suit patient’ needs. The best way to find good materials to use when assessing and evaluating a project is by including all stakeholders who advise on the best material for assessing the project. Also, one should consider the logistics and storage of the material as well as the cost and quality of the material. The material should also be tested to assess whether it meets the demand of the quality improvement project.
Assessing outcome and not the process is important. Assessment of the outcome allows project managers to gauge whether the project met its expected goal. The process can change and lead to a similar outcome but changed outcome means the project goal is not met. One instrument I purpose to use in my project is the evaluation assessment checklist which will assess whether the project met its expected outcome. The checklist will be used as a guide to evaluate the success or failure of the project. The tool is beneficial as it covers all the essential area the project intended to cover and it can be used by any project evaluator since it has specific questions. The weakness of the tool is that it cannot be used to determine the next move if the project fails to meet the desired outcome. Therefore, it is a guide not a tool to advice project managers.
