Why should an organization support environmentally friendly policies?
Environmental friendly policies in the workplace refer to the maintenance of business practices that aim to reduce impact on the environment and conserve the environment. Businesses can get many benefits from supporting environmental friendly policies in the workplace. Business policies should advocate for the use of products that reduce the reliance on natural resources such as solar energy and rainwater harvesting practices (Gluck, 2020).
Policies can be designed to use products that are made from recycled items such as building and office materials that are made from recycled products such as rubber and recycled plastic. Organizations can reduce unnecessary commuting such as use of conference calls instead of interstate meetings (Queensland, 2020).
Promoting environmental friendly policies different from the competitors at the marketplace can attract more and new customers who prefer to buy to buy goods and services from environmental friendly businesses (Elizabeth, 2019). Moreover, focusing on eco-friendly practices can help retain customers and attract new ones.
Improving sustainability at the workplace is as a result of reducing the environmental impact on the business. Organizations that depend less on natural resources in the organization are at a better place do deal with rising expenses related to climate change, thus a high and long-term chance of survival in the marketplace.
Environmental friendly policies are characteristics of interventions that reduce, recycle, reuse, and avoid processes and products in aims to cut costs. For instance, an organization can introduce a measure on the usage of paper in the office. The staff can avoid unnecessary usage of paper, reduce the paper needs by advocating for printing on both-sides, and recycle shredded paper to be reused (Saifulina and Carballo, 2017). Moreover, the organization shall encourage the staff to use scrap paper for messages instead of using fresh text pads.
Companies should support the consumption of local products to reduce carbon produced during transportation. Moreover, the company shall be supporting the local economy, and in time more products shall be in the market.
