Request for Volunteers for Children Reading Activities
Dear. Toni Van Pelt, Christian Nunes:
It’s a great pleasure to introduce myself as the Early Literacy Development Organization language department manager. I would be delighted to work with some of your employees who would be ready to volunteer for reading activities that would be covered in fours per week per volunteer. I have considered your organization since your employees are conversant with the importance of social change, mainly when targeted through the young generation.
The Early Literacy Development program is being offered to children between the ages of 5 to 12 years. This request is meant to reinforce our capacity to reach more children and impact a larger generation. The age group was selected because it is when the brain is most active, and the cognitive processes are rapidly developing. According to the Department of Education in 2017, children exposed to early literacy activities and experiences have proved to be excellent readers. They also reported that about 36% of children in public schools could fluently do grade 4 reading, emphasizing the need for more reading practices. It is evident that students get higher reading scores when they start practicing reading skills or being read to, at this young age.
The Education Department also reported that over 40 million Americans could not read the fifth-grade level, and over 50% of adults cannot read the eighth-grade level. This clearly shows the long-term effects of childhood illiteracy. This problem can only be countered by making a difference in the young generation’s lives, thus creating the need for this critical program. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that these children get proper reading guidance at this early stage from willing, passionate, and experienced tutors. Working as a volunteer will be a very satisfying job, mainly when the goals are achieved and associated with you. In this case, the volunteers will help build a strong community, thus positively impacting future generations.
I am looking forward to at least 25 volunteers to work with me under the Early Literacy Development program. Upon receiving their names, the company will organize a fully sponsored training to help them be well equipped with the necessary reading skills. This training will help them to expand their knowledge and also opportunities for careers. The training for new volunteers is scheduled from August 1 to 15th, 2020. The skills learned will also boost your employees’ performance since they would be trained on how to uphold the children’s rights and the building of the community, which is in line with their duty.
I believe this vision will come true through combined efforts, and all will enjoy the success. The working hours are flexible for the convenience of willing volunteers. During the training, I will also discuss with them on stipend they would receive after hitting particular targets.
Through your support, I will be grateful to get at least 25 volunteers by the end of July. I’m also ready to support you in the future with volunteers as well to accomplish your mission. Thank you for the excellent cooperation, and I would also be glad to welcome well-wishers to support the program. All interested participants should submit their application letter by July 30, 2020, to eld17@gmail.com or contact me through manager.3@eld.com.
Sincerely,
