Business Process Improvement Report: Personal Reflection
Introduction
The world is rapidly evolving. Changes are taking place in almost all sectors of the economy, technology and many other aspects of life. The factors surrounding businesses have not been left in the evolution that is taking place at such a speed. Changes in the factors surrounding the businesses and factors that affect the businesses either internally of externally calls for a quick response from the organizational or business management team. Without an agile response to the changing dynamics, most of the companies are going to collapse. Many international and high-ranking organizations have collapsed or got to the verge of collapsing due to the failure to respond to the changing market dynamics. A fact that every organization must acknowledge is the increasing technological use and its relevance to the growth and development of the organization. This paper, therefore, reflects the learning outcomes from module one, the changes that I have experienced and the things that I have learnt through the subject. A reflection into the case of KING ICT and the system integrator industry is going to be analyzed too.
Body
From the case study, I have come to realize a lot of things that I didn’t have even the slightest idea about in the first place. Technology is quickly evolving and only the apt responders to the evolution taking place are going to benefit (Reid, 2012). Information technology is crucial in the design of systems and processes in any organization. With increasing knowledge of the various elements of information technology, there is an increase in the numbers of cyber-crimes and many other crimes related to breach of data and accessing unauthorized organizational information. It is also evident that there are huge flows of big data from various business in the world. This flow is influencing the direction of the various elements in the cyberspace and the business world. This has necessitated serious innovations in the IT industry. These innovations have led to the realization of system integrators and the need to integrate all the systems in an organization.
From the course modules and the case study, I have learnt that the need to integrate the various elements of information technology in an organization is inevitable. As a result of this, the role of system integrators in the IT industry is growing rapidly. KING ICT is among the market leaders in the Macedonian market and has made great steps in ensuring that she holds the better share of the market. Moreover, the entry of competitors in the market is posting a greater need for innovation to the company. It is worth deriving the fact that various organizational elements are important in dictating the future of a company. However, integrating the various elements has proven to work in the recent past, for a majority of organizations. As a result, several organizations are moving towards the integration of the various IT elements to improve their processes and systems (Scheer, 2000). They are in a positive move and making milestones to ensure that all the key elements are brought together. Integration of the systems is projected to create safer storage for the organizational data and create an efficient service delivery system.
I have also learnt that it is an important move to secure your share of the market. Looking at the case study, KING ICT has taken all the possible measures to achieve this. The first move is ensuring quality products throughout the production cycle (Prencipe, Davies & Hobday, 2005). This means that the customers are always going to stick to their products. All possible measures to safeguard this have been taken, which include partnering with quality suppliers. Also to deal with the threat of substitute products and services, the organization has also produced various products that could serve as substitutes to the existing products. This is among the best strategies I have learnt so far in the improvement of business processes. It leaves the market with very few options when it comes to the consumption of the products and markets.
The modules so far have helped increase my knowledge in business management and the various processes that are essential in improving the processes in the business. The importance of both the external and internal business environment has been well elaborated, not forgetting the role of technology in the entire transformation. If an organization is to achieve any improvements in service delivery, the best move that it can make is the improvement of the information technology (Reid, 2012). It is evident from the modules and the case study that the role of information technology in the growth and transformation of organizations is inevitable.
Another important aspect that I have discovered in the process is the need for group collaboration. Partnering with other group members has helped in a deeper analysis of the case study, unearthing points out that I could not have done without the help of others. I have come to realize that the divergence in opinions and understanding of the various incidents is key in the creation of good team collaboration. Through collaboration, the groups achieved the best analysis and summary of the case study. The cohorts responses on the presentation have proven the need to collaborate and the impact it has. Collaboration has also helped in opening my mind to various aspects of case analysis.
Conclusion
The case study is among the best experiences I have had. It has helped me in getting greater insights into business processes improvement and a greater one too in the role of IT in process improvements. Information technology is becoming an integral element in the business world and there is yet much more to be done concerning that. With increased use and adoption of advanced information systems, the safety of the organizational data is going to be achieved. Safety of the information and efficiency in the data analysis process is among the milestones in the business sector. The role of system integrators is, therefore, growing, and this will consequently lead to greater data security.
