Business startup
Business startup considers factors such as capital, location, market, estimated profit margin, among others, and these factors determine the success of the business. Aligning all the factors can be hectic and cumbersome. Shania should make a partnership agreement with her husband for the business startup while Carlos and Kelsey employed as employees.
Shania should start the business under a partnership form of business ownership with her husband, Marvin. In addition to having low startup cost, a partnership offers advantages such as having few formalities and capability to respond quickly to problems by lowering the amount of time involved in decision making(“Privacy Policy – Consent – University of Richmond”, 2020). Despite getting the distributive share between the partners, Shania would receive a guaranteed payment, for services like management duties, since Marvin would not be involved in daily business operations. Having motivated employees in the business would help attain business success.
Carlos and Kelsey are potential employees with different motivation for the job. (Lagat, 2016) argues that in obedience to God, a wife should accept her place in the family under her husband to function in his responsibility with her full support, permitting him to make the final decision; therefore, Kelsey should talk to her husband about her involvement in the coffee house business. Meanwhile, Carlos, Shania and any other third party employee, if need be, should be involved in the day to day operations while awaiting feedback from Kelsey. Shania should be the manager as she is the business owner overseeing all the activities. Carlos should be the head of sales and customer relations. The rest of the employees, if any, should be waiting staff.
The business name plays an important role, especially in marketing. Therefore, choosing a name is critical to operation and success. Key to selecting a good name is based on factors such as; avoiding hard-to-spell names, picking a name that is not limiting to business growth, catchy name, making sure that the name sounds good when said out loud and using a name that conveys some meaning. “The gathering place” as the business name met the requirement and considered a right trade name; furthermore, it is inclusive considering there are several churches in the vicinity with different dominions. Inclusivity results to more customers, both Christians and non-believers and as a result, an increase in sales.
Customers are the driving force and the determining factor for any firm’s success. Therefore, the integration of Christians and non-believers as clienteles is detrimental. The management should lead by example, hiring Carlos, a non-believer, to work in the enterprise. Nevertheless, Christians are encouraged to interact with non-believers to have harmony (“Bible Gateway passage: 1 Corinthians 10:25-33 – New International Version”, 2020). Embracing the interaction between believers and non-believers in the business will benefit Shania, not only as a Christian but also the business owner.
In conclusion, a partnership offers a wide range of advantages for the management to exploit. In addition to having a trusted partner, in this case, her husband Marvin, Shania is solely responsible for decision-making and therefore, the success of the business. Having reliable employees who understand the values and goal of the business will help the entity grow and retain clients. Creating and maintaining a safe environment for Christians and non-believers is a critical aspect of marketing since it maximizes on sales.
