Career Counseling
The field of counseling continues to witness changes that require flexibility among counselors. Some of the main issues surrounding the field of counseling are the increasing demand and the role of technology in the field. The world continues to grow complex making life more difficult hence the need for more counseling services. Technology, on the other hand, promises more solutions, although its integration into counseling requires proper guidelines. The transition of career counseling from industrial to information stage and the incorporation of technology into counseling will impact my career in counseling in the future since they are sure to change the course of the career.
Career counseling is expected to continue changing with time, and I am sure to be impacted by the change as a counselor. First, independence career counseling practice has seen the career transit from the industrial to the information era. Private practice has been allowed, and counselors have more freedom to expand their careers in a bid to meet the ever-growing demand for counseling services. The development will change me as I will have more freedom to develop my career without limits. Secondly, the incorporation of technology will impact my success in career counseling (Colburn, 2017). Artificial counselors have been known as the first destination for people in need of counseling. Technology, however, allows for computerized counseling services that will improve the counseling field. The two developments further provide a breakthrough for marginalized groups as discrimination will be dealt with. Private practice will give marginalized groups more opportunities, while technology will remove stigmatization as physical contact will be minimized.
In sum, independence career counseling and incorporation of technology into counseling will impact my future in career counseling. The two developments will also have positive impacts on marginalized groups. Career counseling keeps on changing, and thus a counselor should be flexible.
