Abstract This paper aims at discussing the ethical and legal foundations of the two-factor motivational theory and the impacts of the biblical scriptures on business ethics. The religious perspectives discussed here include the Catholic social doctrine and teaching (CSD/T) and the natural law of antiquity. This work builds a conceptual framework from the CSD/T and natural law that can be adopted by business leaders to develop an ethos of humanistic management. This framework forms the concrete needs bridge between contemporary business-leaders and time-tested Christian behaviors. Human dignity has been used to portray the idea that businesses are built on dynamic social networks to fulfill human needs. The ultimate framework virtues and principles are guided by a logic that inspires excellence as concern for human welfare lay a foundation for the long-term prosperity of business. This paper portrays the conceptual framework used to examine the two-factor motivational theory. The study also represents firm leadership challenges that transform ethical prism of virtues and principles and mechanisms for results and feedback. Each element and its effect on humanistic management are described in the…
The Money Markets. The money markets are a segment of the financial markets that trade in debt instruments with a maturity of less than a year. To elucidate this, we will go to the fundamentals of business. There are several forms of business units. These units require capital to finance their operations. They can acquire capital through issuing equity instruments (advertising shares for public subscription) or debt instruments. A debt instrument is a financial instrument in the form of a certificate whereby the certificate holder has given the certificate issuer a specific amount of money to return within a given period. Money market instruments have a maturity period of less than a year. That means the issuer will repay the loan within a time-frame that is less than a year. The Money markets are where such financial instruments are advertised for public subscription. From the buyers’ perspective, a money market instrument is an investment they make whereby they buy the instrument for an amount x and receive back their money and a rate of interest on top of…
‘Kerry-Ann Jones-Ewan Solomon Omo-Osagie 26/08/2020 The term “three worlds” is commonly used in the west to refer to Asia, Europe, and Africa. The three old worlds include American, Asian, and European societies. The three old worlds created a new world from 1492 to 1600 (Penty, 1917). Notably, there was a conflict between European kingdoms that led to an interest in trading posts and colonies to strengthen upcoming nations. The idea of expansionism by European kingdoms had an impact on western history because later, it introduced Europeans to American and African societies that had evolved for centuries. It also led to cultural interaction between the three societies that led to civilization. As such, a detailed explanation of the formation of three worlds is provided in this essay. American societies comprise different communities that evolved over the years to be part of the three old worlds. To start with, Paleo-Indians were the first Asian to arrive in North America between 12,000 and 14 000 years ago. Their survival was dependent on hunting large animals. However, prehistoric animals started to disappear, and people…
Sunset Boulevard Sunset Boulevard is groundbreaking work. The film comes at a time when motion pictures are trying to incorporate image, word, and motion in a single set. You see, before Sunset Boulevard, films only used motion pictures without sound. But form nowhere comes a motion picture that incorporates sound in its delivery. Notably, with the advent of the sound technology used in Sunset Boulevard, silent movies will become a thing of the past. The film then incorporates the sound’s breakthrough to the role of a face in the motion picture business. In other words, Sunset Boulevard is a film that concerns the concepts behind film making. Therefore, having transcended the error of silent films, what do sound films have to offer us? What techniques do the creative use to captivate the audience? Notably, the face of the characters in the movie is the primary focus of the consumer. Naturally, when interacting with human beings, it is the face that introduces them to us. Just by looking at the face, we can reach conclusions about the kind of person we…

I found myself enclosed in a single room. Somebody had laid me down in the bed and left. I tried to wake up from my position, but it was in vain. I had no option than to sleep still. My leg was excruciating. I asked for help in agony, but it seemed that no one was around. They had plastered my leg and gave me an injection that would keep me asleep for three hours. Unfortunately, I woke up one hour after the injection. Where am I? Through which means did I get to this place? I was asking myself these questions when I saw the door facing me open. Carrying bandages and some anesthetic treatments on her hand, she got into the room and sank on a chair beside me. For a moment, we stared at each other without a word. From the neighboring places in the same building, I could hear the rising cries of persons in pain. A connection of cries with the person who sat next to me made me realize something that shocked me. I…
Meta-Ethics: Divine Command Theory and Moral Realism Students Name Course Professor Date Introduction When speaking of ethics and accompanying types, we can only fathom extensively on the differences in cultural understanding. With there being so many types of theories discussed in the Christian ethical theory world, it can be challenging to understand when compared to other competing ethical methods out there. Sometimes it is better to compare and contrast theories to help better understand theories. By discussing the similarities and the differences in philosophies, understanding sometimes becomes clearer as different perspectives are sought. With that said, I would like to discuss Moral Realism and Divine Command. Meta-Ethics contrast and comparison As we read in our Moral Reasoning textbook, Moral Realism seems to be more of a claim that the moral concepts are unimportant under certain circumstances. In other words, there are claims under Moral Realism that facts can be objective. Also, that moral facts can be understood through empirical observations. On the other hand, the Divine Command…
Questions about Mother Teresa and servant leadership: Describe Mother Teresa’s leadership approach from your observations of the Mother Teresa video. Compare and contrast her example of leadership with the servant leadership approach (using references from Northouse, Chapter 10). The leadership approach that gets used from the precise observations that I made from watching the Mother Teresa video is transformational leadership. This is because she inspires morality by leading by example and motivating her staff by engaging them in what she does so that they can be able to understand the value of what she was doing to help those in need. For example, when the young man asks for her guidance as to what he can do to assist in the situation, mother Teresa responds, “Come and see what you can do.” She then guides him and shows him what he can do to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. The leader, in this case, demonstrates her transformational leadership through the commitment she has in achieving a common good, which in this case, entails…
Disclosing Non-research Funding Moral Question Do physicians have an obligation to inform their patients on non-research funding received from pharmaceutical companies? Moral Argument Moral Principle According to the AMA Code of Ethical Opinions 11.2.4, physicians are obliged to notify patients on appropriate treatment interventions, dangers, and advantages of alternatives, and any other pertinent data, including financial incentives or guidelines that could alter the quality and delivery of care (AMA, 2016). Facts The facts about the current situation in the medical field are that; (a) Doctors are legally required to disclose any information that could jeopardize patients’ health outcomes. (b) The conflict of interest in violating doctor-patient obligations by over-prescribing drugs like opioids is relatively unclear. (c) The power to curb the distribution of non-research funding is beyond the control of physicians. Options One, doctors shouldn’t disclose the funding to patients, as they are trusted to put the latter’s best interest above personal gain. In this sense, the issue of non-research funding can’t be controlled by physicians, who can only ensure the safety of customers. Second, doctors can inform…
What Damage have Humans Caused to Mother Nature? Human beings have reduced the yield from ecosystem services through their activities. The reduction is also attributed to the changes in components of the ecosystem and biodiversity in the earth, as well as economic development. Besides, the human population has grown significantly, and the effect has been an increased transformation of the natural ecosystems to residential, industrial, agricultural use, and the need for ecosystem inputs like soil fertility, fiber, and freshwater, as well as significant pressure on the maximum capacity of natural ecosystems. Human activities, which have damaged nature, include hunting and illegal fishing, expanding agriculture, deforestation, pollution by pesticides, and unplanned tourism. These activities have caused a consistent deterioration of natural habitats. Therefore, the result has been the loss of biodiversity, and the removal of forests, which in turn eliminate shelter and food for the wildlife that live in the forests. The uncontrolled use of herbicides and pesticides has also introduced environmental pollutants, and this has caused poor livelihood for human beings themselves. Therefore, it is evident that most…
