Daniel Elazar’s Exploring Federalism Book Review The world consists of many countries which have unique systems of government or governance that vary from others. The system of governance or a government of a country or a region is an important aspect of the society as the government is an organ that runs the activities of the country and determines the success and development in a country or a region. Daniel Elazar is one of the most popular contemporary scholars who employ systems of governments especially the American federalism[1]. Daniel Elazar wrote his book titled Exploring Federalism which gives a broad and expansive look at federalism as a major political principle or system. In the book, Daniel Elazar defines federalism as the need of people and polities to come together for a common purpose but they remain separate and preserve their respective integrities. Elazar says that federalism is the best political system to use when people want to achieve the most benefits out of the government as it is human nature. Through federalism, human beings or different branches of the government…

Micro-Aggressions Micro-aggression is subtle aggression against an individual who is different from the perpetrator regarding race, gender or other factors (Moore, Calvin & Beale 2015). It occurs due to stereotypes, bias and negative assumptions which limit one’s value and humanity. I recently witnessed micro-aggression at the workplace whereby my female teammate was ridiculed and demoralised by our male supervisor. Women often suffer micro-aggression at the workplace such as being sexualised by their male counterparts or being demeaned through suggesting they are unable to handle both motherhood and office duties (Moore et al. 2015). Since I was not the receiver of micro-aggression, I did not take the situation personally and offered the benefit of the doubt by not considering the receiving party as a victim. I also encouraged the individual who experienced micro-aggression to toughen out to establish the illusion of strength thus discouraging the aggressor from disempowering her. Since my cultural values encourage behaviours such as integrity, honesty and openness, I was able to apply ethical decision-making characteristics which prevented me from acting irrationally by quickly accusing the perpetrator. Therefore,…

COLLAPSE Top of Form Depression in adolescents is a disabling condition associated with long term mental and physical health issues. Screening is seen as one of the best ways to identify and improve depression management (Roseman et al., 2017). In the United States, 11.4% of adolescents have been diagnosed with depression annually and suicide was stated to be the 3rd leading cause of their death (Leslie et al., 2018). Depression is a commonly reoccurring, seriously impairing, mental problem and the World Health Organization grades major depressive problem as the fourth leading cause of mental disability (Kessler, 2012). Adolescent depression is a growing public health concern (Dihigo, 2015) and should be given a great consideration. Depression has both individual effects as well as economic and social consequences (De Jonge-Heesen et al., 2016). Adolescent depression causes later role transitions difficulties, including low educational accomplishments, high risk of adolescent childbearing, marital disturbances, poor health and unsteady employment (Kessle, 2012). Wright. (2015) indicated that children who were diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and other emotional disorders had yearly health care expenses of $2237, higher than that of…

Social Cognitive Theory and STDs and HIV among African Americans Communities Introduction The social cognitive theory (SCT) explains different personal experiences, actions of others in the community and related environmental issues, and their impacts on the individual’s health patterns. Various research works show that the theory offers chances for social support of the affected people to achieve personal behavior change significant for their health. Scholars explain that model plays a fundamental role in explaining and preventing HIV and STDs among the African American community. By using the method, individuals and organizations employ different approaches in the intervention of HIV and STDs response among the blacks who face different social challenges. Previous and current studies indicate that HIV and STDs significantly affect the population of African American, including women, adolescent and heterosexual individuals like men who have sex with men. The disparity of HIV and STDs infection among African Americans started at the beginning of the pandemic. In 1982, African American comprised 23% of the reported cases while they only constitute 12% of the American population. Moreover, recent data indicate the…

HYPERTENSION   Health issue Hypertension is a common health issue among the different populations in the united stated. 45% of the adults have hypertension with only 24% having their condition under control (Hajjar & Kotchen, 2015). According to the CDC 2019, hypertension is prevalent and more destructive among African Americans than any other racial group. African Americans are twice likely to have 4-5 cardiovascular risk factors, hence, there is a need to put greater attention to the management of blood pressure (CDC, 2019). A lot of speculations have been placed on different etiology and pathophysiology, but there are no unique causes that can explain the high prevalence in African Americans. The prevalence of obesity (51%), and salt sensitivity have been proposed to explain the rapid rise in hypertension in AA (Hekler et al., 2019). What poses a great concern among this group and a barrier to blood pressure control is adherence and compliance issues. To achieve excellent blood pressure control, an approach that integrates cultural, physiological, socioeconomic, and epidemiological differences should be utilized. I Opposition or advocacy of the Issue…

Amazon

1.1 Amazon Amazon has, for a long time, now operated following the virtuous cycle that was drawn by the founder and CEO of the company Jeff Bezoz (Uenlue, 2018). The selection and lower prices are the primary factors that drive a customer’s experience. Amazon can translate the low-cost structure into high profits and offer dividends to their shareholders (Uenlue, 2018). However, Amazon’s competitors are proving to be a great challenge whereby they already had low and scaled unit costs (Uenlue, 2018). On the other hand, Amazon only had a low cost structure but no scale given that the firm mainly saved on the costs from their brick and mortar stores. The firm passes this down to its customers through sustainable low prices and reinvestment of surplus into growth. So in the competitive rivalry force side they are facing a huge challenge. Huge amount of these investments are used in their delivery and fulfillment network. Resultantly, this furthers lowered unit costs and amplifies the following elements within their virtuous cycle (Uenlue, 2018).  Amazon’s key customer value propositions are vast selection, lowered…

Practices Minimizing Microbial Growth       Health care-acquired infections (HAIs) can also be termed nosocomial infections. They are associated with high death rates and morbidity. Patients succumb to these infections during the period of receiving treatment for medical issues and surgical conditions. These kinds of infections are not only limited to hospitals, but one can acquire them receiving treatment and care from nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, surgical centers, ambulatory clinics, among others. Individuals with weak immune systems, young children, and old people are at a higher risk of acquiring such infections. Health workers can contribute to these infections if they fail to wash their hands before handling patients and treating patients with antibiotics for a very long time, as this makes them susceptible to HAIs. Institutions such as the Centers for disease control (CDC)  carried out the research. They discovered that Healthcare infections are about 1.7 million in America, and out of the 1.7 million,99,000 people succumb to death due to the infections.  At least one patient is suffering from HAI in 25 hospitals in the U.S. and other…

The collection of historical data The collection of historical data on climatic changes has been going on from time immemorial. Through the collection of this data, analysis has been possible allowing the discovery of weather patterns that have assisted in many aspects over time. Some of the aspects heavily influenced by these patterns include agriculture and travel which are influenced by climate. Some of the activities which have developed over time have in turn affected climatic change that can be observed when comparing past data to present data. With the increase in population, human activities have increased. Human activities have led to climatic changes which can be observed by comparing data from previous years and the present. Data includes levels of ocean heights, temperatures, rainfall among other climatic properties of areas (Herndon, 2017). Climatic change as a result of global warming causes instability in the climate. Instability in the climate implies that the climatic conditions are therefore not reliable. Some activities such as agriculture are negatively affected due to the unpredictability of weather patterns. There exists a balance I greenhouse…

In health research, there are many instances that couple related interviews are carried out. The discussions are also an essential aid in assessing various aspects of religion and theology. It is through such interviews that household expression in psychological, anthropological, and social-cultural matters is assessed (Mavhandu-Mudzusi, 2018).
