Life can sometimes be so hard that you feel like giving up. You set goals and targets that you need to meet, but you don’t get there. You try to take a step forward, but you find yourself three steps backward. That’s normal. Obstacles are present in our daily activities. It could be a barrier that sets you back, halts your progress, or derails your best-laid plan. As much as they are discouraging and cause loss of precious time and resources, one can learn a lesson from them and overcome them. This paper will focus on some of the challenges I have experienced and how I overcame them and became successful.
I vividly remember the challenges I went through in my 7th grade when I was forced to change school in the middle of the year. It is something I never expected. I was transferred from the American International School to the American United School. I was so attached to my first school because I had been there for a while. I had made friends and even got used to the environment. This greatly affected me both psychologically, emotionally, and academically. I got into depression during my first month. I was always alone in a corner, wondering why my parents thought of changing a school for me. Making new friends became a hard task. I was often sad and crying every morning. I woke up to go to school. To make it worse, I could pretend to be sick to miss going to school. This made me perform poorly in my assignments. After a series of counseling and self-realization, I started getting myself together. I did not want to lose it again. I started making friends in class and getting to know them better. I also accepted the environmental change and became more positive about my new school. From the new school, I acquired technological skills that helped me explore and gather information from the internet.
Obstacles are part and parcel of us. They are things that we cannot avoid, but we can overcome them. It is high time we embraced these challenges and dealt with them. As they say, if life gives you a lemon, squeeze it and make lemonade from it. Do not just sit there and give up just because something did not go as you expected.
