City of God
If one is lucky to have been born and raised in an economically politically socially and socially isolated community, then he or she is very unlucky not to have experienced how such a life in the City of God seems like. However, the “Cidade de Deus” is a perfect gift to those that are unlucky. The City of God is also called the “Cidade de Deus”. The City of God is a Brazilian movie that brings the image of the ghetto life of the people of Brazil. It is so horrifying that area in Brazil. The area is fully dominated by criminals on a daily basis. The city also has a higher percentage of poverty, racism, crime, violence, and most importantly, it has drug trafficking all these are the order of the day.
The City of God at the beginning starts with an energetic plot as it plunges into the very story Rio de Janeiro gangs found in the ghetto life. It begins with a narrator who speaks behind the image, and the narrator says that all he could recall is that he has ever wanted to be involved in the gangs of the ghetto. The narrator of the film explains how he has no other option but to join the gang and become a gangster. The given setting of the movie is in an area that is isolated in Brazil. (Kilbourn, 2016). The poor people who are found around the city centre are the ones that inhabit the slums. However, the actors in the film seem to be enjoying life as it is. There are increased levels of dangers in the city since there are no laws that can keep track of the security issues around that slum. There is a flood of violent gangs that are used to destructing the peace that is in the area. The violent gangs have made sure that killing is a daily routine in the area. The killing incidence is on the rise because the violent gang that commit these killings are then people who seem to have a lot of money in the area. Therefore, it means for them to acquire all of these wealth and monetary values they fully engage in committing crimes and getting the wealth from robberies and drug trafficking.
Lil`Ze has been prosperous because of the many resultant criminal activities in the area. He has no given fear of committing any given crime in that he is comfortable wiping out the opponent with no signs of mercy in him. Bene, one of his best friends, has the duty to make sure that Li`l Ze remains in a sanity state of mind and sight. Rocket who has been having a keen observance of him ever since they were small children wants to make an escape from being one of the members of the gang. Though Is unable to avoid the set trap due to the influence.
My first encounter with the movie I had not seen the exact goodness in it. Eventually, it came to my realization that I had developed an interest in the movie, and I had the urge to keep watching the film since it was just riveting. I am glad that I came across this movie even though it happened by chance.
