Clean Air Act
Introduction
One of the notable policies in the environmental field is the Clean Air Act. The latter stated provision aims at regulating emissions from both stationary sources such as manufacturing plants and moving sources such as automobiles. The end that the Clean Air Act wanted to attain was that of protecting the public health and welfare and also regulate the emission of hazardous pollutants. To this end, it can, therefore, be stated that the Act was aimed at ensuring that the environment is safe and free of any pollutants that may affect the overall wellbeing. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the Clean Air Act policy is impacted by three main facets and these are politics, the social aspect, and the economic aspect and this can be detailed as follows.
When it comes to the first facet, which is the political aspect, this is known to shape the public policy on Clean Air Act by coming up with measures to be taken and adhered to as a way of implementing the Act. For instance, the representatives of the people, who are politicians, come up with the best practices that should be followed to see the Clean Air Act into fruition. These best practices are then debated after which an agreement is arrived at for them to become law or applicable rules of the land.
Apart from that, the social factor is also known to shape the Clean Air Act. The manner in which people interact in the current world of increased technological innovation and invention matters a lot. With the world becoming a global village, many industries are considering getting international. As a result, such entities have to portray the aspect of corporate social responsibility for them to gain desirable support and win the hearts of many, and this is one of the ways of implementing the tenets of the Clean Air Act (Davidson, & Norbeck, 2012).
Last but not least, the economic factor also has a direct bearing on the Clean Air Act. Since the world is becoming more industrialized, there has been an issue with the regulation of the activities of the various firms. This has been attained through following the various predetermined environmental policies with the aim of maximizing economic welfare. Therefore, the economy is known to shape the Clean Air Act as it works within some acceptable productive limits.
In conclusion, the Clean Air Act is an important public policy that focuses on the health and wellbeing of individuals. This Act focuses more on the environment in matters pollution. The Clean Air Act is shaped by the political, social, and economic segments in various ways. For political aspects, there are some environmental laws that help in shaping the Act. For the case of the social and economic segments, there are some expectations set that shape the Act.
