Collection and Distribution of Electronic Technology Database project

Collection and Distribution of Electronic Technology Database project is a great selection.  Here are my expectations for this project; I expect your team’s paper to be thorough and complete, to the point that someone could implement the new system without having to ask any questions.  The team will need to write a paper on the new system and include the following sections:

• Introduction
• Problem and Scope
• Design
• Development
• Testing
• Implementation
• Training and Evaluation

The database would be tracking the collection and distribution of donated electronic technology like smartphones, GPS units, video game systems, laptop computers, etc. The collected donated technology would be distributed to people who need the technology but cannot really afford it. The collection of the technology would be from local businesses, electronics recycle shops and individual citizens who are willing to donate the technology. The technology would be distributed to US schools with small technology budgets and to families and people in unfortunate financial situations. When a school’s needs are meet with available technology inventory the schools would get some of that technology. Families and single parents who are working to make ends meet would also be eligible to receive the donated technology.

The details of the database and the tasks involved with designing and building the database are still being determined by the team. The team is currently working on what tasks are involved with the project and what data will be in the database for the project. Several pieces of the data for the database have been identified. Some of the data items are related to both the donator and the recipient. This list is currently a work in progress as more pieces of data will be added.

We need to record the details of donated (collection) items.

• Company or persons name that the donated item is from.
• Address or city the donated item is from.
• The type of donated item, laptop, smartphone, tablet, GPS, etc.
• The make and model of the donated item.
• The year that the donated item was manufactured.
• The condition of the donated item.
• How will the donated item be picked up or delivered to the distribution center?

We need to record the details of the recipients (distribution) of the items.

• School or person receiving the items.
• Address or city of recipient.
• The type of item that was received, laptop, smartphone. Tablet. GPS, etc.
• The make and model of the item received.
• The year the received item was manufactured.
• The condition of the received item.
• How will the recipient pick up or receive the item?

We will determine more pieces of data for the database and what tasks will be involved with building the database as we analysis what the project would require when it is running in the real world. This list is currently a work in progress as more items will be added.

• What do the people working on the project do?
• What pieces of data are involved with the project?
• What is the objective of the system that we are building?
• What data is required to fulfill the objective of the project?
• What are the input use cases? The ways users interact with the system.
• What is the first data model?
• What are the output use case? The reports and summaries of the data.

The items in these lists will be added to and updated as the project progresses.
