The Europeans migrated to the United States to expand their possessions and increase their influence over global affairs. The Spanish are considered to be the first Europeans to make exploration of the new world and were the first to settle in America. By the year 1650, the British were able to establish a foremost presence on the coast of the Atlantic. Their first colony was formed at Jamestown in Virginia in the year 1607, and most of the individuals who occupied new America were able to escape the persecution of the religious people. The pilgrims who were the founders of Plymouth and Massachusetts were able to arrive in 1620. In both regions, the colonists dominated through the help of native Americans. The new world food products such as corn kept the colonists from starvation while on the other hand in Virginia, tobacco offered cash as a valuable product. In early 1702 imprisoned Africans comprised of the increasing percentage of the colonial populace. By the year 1770, there were over two million individuals who lived and labored in the United Kingdom’s American colonies.
During early seventieth century part of puritan groups got secluded from England’s church. Amidst them were the pilgrims who in the year 1620 were able to form Plymouth colony.
