For the discussion board, the formulas used for sheet 2 are as follows.
- Product “=Product(C3,B3)” and “=(D3*E3)” – these formulas are essential as they enabled me to calculate the product of two cells by simply inputting the relevant formula using cell addresses (Walkenbach, 2011). By entering the command “product” and the cell addresses as the values, excel software automatically generates the answer making work more manageable, primarily when one can utilize the AutoFill function.
- Sum “=Sum(D3:D12)” – the formula enabled me to find the sum of all employees working hours in a day. The function enables the software sum up all values from the cell D3 to D12 due to the use of a full colon to define the range of cells to be included in the calculation (McFedries, 2013). It is worth noting that for specific cells, a comma replaces the full colon.
- Average/Mean “=Average(C3:C12)” – the formula facilitated the calculation of the mean working hours per individual in a day. Similarly, to the Sum function, the formula for calculating average in my case utilized the range since I used a full colon to separate cell addresses.
