The spread of the coronavirus to the different parts of the world has affected society in different ways. On the one hand, the most infamous pandemic has promoted the global community in surprising ways. The coronavirus has increased the value of family time significantly with the parents and guardians who were formerly absent from their parenting having to quarantine with their kids (Chakraborty & Maity, 2020). It does not get any better for family time. Thanks to the pandemic ravaging across a large part of the globe, the society has learned multiple lessons on practicing better hygiene, a move which nutritionists hope that it will continue defining the families post coronavirus (Chakraborty & Maity, 2020). Along with the highly publicized “stay safe, stay at home” media movement, working from home is becoming the new normal for the busy workers that had to spend a significant amount of time stuck in traffic to and from work (Chakraborty & Maity, 2020). With working from home becoming the mainstream norm, the pandemic appears to have a positive spend.
On the other side of the spectrum, the coronavirus pandemic has adversely affected the society in the first few months of 2020. The pandemic has attracted panic with famous meme artists and fanatics on social media posting pictures and videos passing the message of “2020 needs to be uninstalled, it has a virus.” From a more in-depth perspective, the society has been faced with the spread of the virus leading to a plethora of respiratory infections affecting people, with a rapid increase in the number of people dying of the virus (Medical News Today, 2020). The sociality of human beings in today’s society has been thoroughly affected by the pandemic following the widespread cancellation of social gatherings, including most workplaces and fun parks (Medical News Today, 2020). Therefore, the coronavirus pandemic has had both positive and negative impacts on society.
