Corrective Action Plan Case Study
Staff at the Nursing home will are required and expected to adhere to the guidelines regarding treating the residents with dignity. The Nursing Home administrator will review all the comprehensive care plans and any complaints received from residents in the last month to identify any other instances of undignified treatment. The Registered Nurses unit managers will further review the care plans and liaise with the Certified Nursing Aides to update the patient’s comprehensive care plans accordingly in cases where patients exhibit behaviors that had not been observed in the Minimum Data Set assessment. CNAs will be instructed to report any changes in the residents’ behavior to their respective RN unit managers for further instructions on how to approach the patient. This review and update will be conducted within three days.
Licensed practical nurses at the dining area will work with their respective unit managers and the certified nursing aides to assess the feeding lists. The feeding lists and schedules will be revised to ensure that ration of CNAs and LPNs caring for residents as they eat satisfies requirements. Additionally, all feeding lists will be dated forthwith for easy planning and review in future. These changes will be effected in twenty-four hours. In the long-term, the Nursing home management will review the nurses to residents’ ratio, and devise long-term strategies to establish and maintain a healthy ratio between the residents and the care-givers. This review will be conducted in one month.
CNAs will be advised to stick to guidelines of dressing in the home. While thinking on one’s feet is encouraged, CNAs will be reminded of the importance of adhering to these guidelines and the consequences of failing to adhere to these guidelines. RN unit managers will be asked to conduct regular inspections during mealtimes and bath times to ensure that the dressing guidelines are updated.
The effectiveness of these measures will be evaluated by the nursing home’s administration every week and be modified where necessary.
