Course reflection
Notably, now that this course has ended, my knowledge and view on religion have taken a drastic change. When I was joining this course, i can say I did not have a clear understanding of how vital the concepts of theology and religion are to the lives of Christians. Importantly, the elements of this course have generated general and special revelations that have made me realize different ways in which God reveals himself to his people. Before registering for this course, I used to view theology as a concept that religious leaders have to master for them to analyze and teach the scriptures. Nonetheless, I have learned that theology fosters a strong understanding of the principles that build the Christian faith. Most people who have not studied theology struggle with believing the Word of God. In this case, my current definition of religion is that it is a system of practices and beliefs that unite a group of people into one moral community.
The aspects of this course that have t influenced my way of life and thinking is about contextualizing the strictures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a pastoral setting. As we progressed in this course, I realized that one could not complete a theology class without being attracted to the need for conveying Gospel messages to people. Importantly, this course has made me realize that re-forming my knowledge is a vital step towards helping others. For example, case studies, readings and classroom discussions taught me compassion and empathy. Also, after assessing the impact of different figures that have impacted the world in various ways, I realized that God had given me an opportunity to impact the lives of other people positively. After studying this course, the questions I have about religion are as follows. Given Christian religion has many denominations, are we whole or divided? Are we central to one creation? If there is a division, how can we become one? Finally, if God is the controller of everything, do human beings have a free will?
