Narcos
It is a crime series that explores the origin of the modern drug war going back to when the drug trafficking world was established. Back in the day, the trafficking world was a disorganized mess of independent growers and dealers. This saw the rise of Guadalajara cartel with Felix Gallardo at the helm. He unites the traffickers and other key players in the market to create an empire. A DEA agent from America finds out his role is not as easy as he thought it would be as he learns the hard way not to mess with the drug cartels. It premiered in 2018 and has two seasons out already.
Money Heist
A criminal mastermind known as the Professor has a plan to carry out a robbery from the Royal Mint of Spain. He plans to carry out a heist whereby they print new bills to make them untraceable. He procures the aid of 8 people who have a background of crime and with nothing to loose to carry out the most elaborate plan. The show is quite thrilling and captivating, and the theme song will have you watching episode after episode of the three seasons already released. The series also explores the way money will corrupt morals of even the well-meaning people. The investigating agent, Rachel, surprises us all with the turn of events in her life. The creativity of naming characters after significant cities is an exciting aspect of the series.
Peaky Blinders
It is an English crime show that follows the story of a gangster family. Its storyline goes back to the year 1919 after World War 1. Thomas Shelby and his brothers return to Birmingham after serving in the British Army in WW1. They take control of Birmingham city making a name for themselves as the Peaky blinders gang. Shelby ambitions go beyond the city of Birmingham, and he will not let anyone get on his way. The Shelby’s establish themselves as bookmakers, racketeers and gangsters. The show premiered in 2013. Five seasons are out and with a total of 30 episodes you are in for a great ride.
Criminal Minds
This show follows a group of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as a behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU). Using scientific methods, they analyze behavioural patterns of criminals and profiling evidence to solve a crime and apprehend its perpetrators. Profiling includes coming up with characteristics of the subject known as “Unsub” using the evidence from the case. Matching information they have from historic precedents and psychological analyses to solve their cases. Due to the demanding nature of their job, not many members of the B.A.U have been able to maintain a happy and stable family.
