In the assignment, the student has covered the points mentioned in the document file for completion of a Student record management system which records data and information related to the new students. For proper use of the system, the student has provided a database for managing the data about the enrollment, courses of the enrolled students and fascinating courses which is only for staff. The system allows user to update, modify and delete the record of the student. The system helps manage the daily activities of students in university by maintaining and recording it automatically. To perform this task, the student has used a spreadsheet in MS Excel, which is having four versions. The student has used six attributes: Sl No., Student name, Student Id, Course Id, Course name and Date of admission in all the versions. In version 3, two additional attributes are added: Email and phone number. The data objects used are tables and views, which is used in a simple way. Different colours are used to highlight the main objective of that version.
The student should focus on data attributes as it does not include any staff allocation to the particular subject. Then how will staff know which teacher is assigned to the course? It can result in misguide to the faculty and staff will be in a new situation then he has to refer to some other database for allocation of staff. The student has added Mobile number as one of the attributes, no need of adding as all the conversation done by emails. The student can add the graduation year and gender of the student so that more information can be carried out by the system. Data objects like indexes or sequences can be done on the database for the natural approach to the system. There are no methods used for deletion and modification of the data. The student has not used proper data objects to make database user-friendly. Use of data object and attribute is not appropriate so it is not displaying necessary information which can be used for further tasks.
To improve the data objects and data attributes in the student management system database, it requires the understanding of the attribute. There are two types of attributes qualitative and quantitative. Firstly, the student needs to understand the difference between both the classes. Then the student will be able to create proper attribute which is required for the database. The student should add the Staff Allocation to that course, for which Course year the student registration is done and the gender of the student which will help calculate the ratio of girls and boys in the college for the particular year. Proper use of indexes should be done to a search of any student. Use of methods like macros, or user form should be done so that the registration becomes easy and efficient in modifying the data will increase which will help maintain and create up to date and accurate database for student information.
