Cultural beliefs
Cultural beliefs foster the existence of various stereotypes that are deeply rooted in people’s mindsets, forming a perception of others, which affects an individual’s judgment. The stereotypes disapprove of others’ cultures and affect an individual’s ability to appreciate diversity. Resulting in a misplaced sense of self-worth based on culture, thus enhance the formation of a system that promotes unequal rewards and opportunities. Cultural beliefs support the opinion that those living in poverty and the minority groups are in that state due to their choices. Social inequality promoted by cultural beliefs poses a significant challenge in society because intervention to eradicate the issue is always viewed as an attack on a given group. I missed an internship position with a distinguished organization because they had met their gender quota.
