Personal Statement: Business Manager Position
Management is a very interesting topic which personally affected me a lot. When I was a small child, there was a small tea shop from which I use to pass on every day. The owner of this shop uses to sit, attend customers as well as maintain bookkeeping. It was the first step towards the desire of developing their own business and management. However, today the business world in complex works globally and has several aspects of learning. Hence, I moved from India to London to seek higher education in management studies. Currently, I am a university student in Portsmouth and specialising in Business Management. Although I am in the first year of MSC, business management has been a very important objective which I wanted to pursue while I was a small child.
My overall qualification includes higher secondary school certificate and secondary school certificate with first division. After that, I joined the institute to seek bachelor degree in commerce subject. It was a very nice experience to seek education within my interests; however, something was missing. Hence, I decided to pursue a higher degree in business management to make a successful career.
I do have prior job experience, which has taught me enough about management concepts, including finance, operations, marketing, and administration. The organisation name was Orion Institute of Management and Technology in which I worked as marketing counsellor and administrator. With this company, I learned how to market a product Infront of the clients. Further, human interaction with customers is equally important to let them listen to your advice. As a counsellor, my job was to attend students and provide them with career-related advice. However, administration work also taught me a few things such as business requirements management for staff, recruitments and much more. Whereas keeping track for each and every individual is another challenge. Overall, work experiences provided personal challenges in me, including patience, calmness in the workspace, and behaviour with colleagues, and student customers.
I also belief skills and competencies are always helpful in the professional workplace. It has been a personal experience for me while working as a counsellor. On the professional front, I have developed the competency for administration and marketing expertise. Further, time management, communication skill and customer interactions are other sets. I can interact with new people every day, even if they are strangers. While, other competencies are also improved; for example – adaptability to the new atmosphere and organisational awareness.
Further, I am also able to handle computer knowledge to maintain records and MS-excel sheets. Being a quick learner also helps to seek new experiences and learning from them. Not only I have developed skills; however, there are several interests too. For instance, I have active participation in charity work, campaigns and social rights groups.
Not only I have worked as a paid employee, however, worked for the social cause through the animal shelter. In such shelter, I have been working as assistant manager for keeping excel spreadsheet records, word processing, bookkeeping and database management. Hence, it was quite helpful to gather business work processes. I hope these work experiences will make me more suitable for part-time business manager job position. I think a manager’s task is to look after all the business processes and keeps track of each activity. Hence, these experiences had already provided a real occupational workplace and their complex necessity. Therefore, I am applying for a temporary position in your organisation as a business manager.
