DATA VISUALS
In my weekly readings, I have been able to understand data visualization and the concepts of data visualization to retaliate on the definition of data visualization, It is the representation of data through graphs, outliers, images and charts. The creator of a visual should have the skill to convey the information in a clear and precise manner. To establish whether a visual is good or bad and whether you learned or not, it depends on the visual being displayed. Best practices need to be followed in the creation of these visuals but at times that is not the case. Programs which are used to generate a visual which include Matlab, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint some creators are tempted to use animated charts or 3D ad these could lead to the viewer struggle to understand the visual due to its complexity. The visuals presented on the seeing data organization have incorporated the best practices in data visualization but others failed the test. When presenting visuals to different people one should consider simplicity in data presentation. Your Olympic athlete body did not present data in a simpler manner and it needed to be more elaborate and precise.
The clicks don’t lie, Migration in the News and Top ten freshwater consumers were among the best visuals in the focus group research. They incorporated all the practices of developing a good visual (Semple, Peakall & Tatarnic, 2019). They were more interactive with the reader and it offered more information despite it being simple. The creators were able to identify their readers and the visuals were more appealing. I was able to find text alongside the visual this helped to have a deeper understanding. The clicks don’t lie have used images of twitter, Facebook and Instagram to help viewers to build contact with the visuals. The visual never repeated information that could have been best place as a visual instead they reinforced the visual. The colour used in the visuals were appealing and they helped the reader to compare and contrast the changes seen in the visual. These are some of the visuals that I liked.
