Dating In the 21st Century
Do you see yourself finding your life long partner via the internet through online dating? You will not be thinking of finding a partner this way. Most people see themselves meeting their beloved partners in a much more unexpected manner or the most unexpected place. Today teenagers look at love from a different angle. Most do not believe in this idea of love and have shifted to the internet for online dating. From traditional dating to dating online, dating has surely changed over time. This is the worst place to meet someone that you are going to spend your life with. So why is there a shift to look for partners online?
Online dating is spreading very quickly all over the world. There over 1000 dating websites used by 10 percent of all internet users. They use these online platforms to meet someone new, their life partners in the future. However, many people have found their partners by using these sites for dating. Online dating is still more dangerous than before. Someone’s life is being exposed to the public through online dating. The internet is composed of different kinds of people, people from different classes. It is very hard to know what someone clear intentions are. Whether the person you’re dating online is a criminal or has criminal records, it is had to do a background check on the person (Rosen, Larry D., et al., 2013). That is why most people end up becoming victims of extortion and blackmail. Sharing conversion photos and videos has led to people being kidnapped or even worse. That is why it is very important to avoid dating online.
Though most people still prefer traditional dating. It is as well dangerous as dating online. Normally to understand the mind of a human being unless we can be able to read through someone’s mind. Everyone needs to be careful to what extent they’re going to share their information with the person. When they are planning to meet each other, it is not advisable that they should go alone. They should avoid places which are very secretive and unsafe. It is important not to trust the person immediately (Rosen, Larry D., et al., 2013).
I would not recommend online dating for finding a lifetime partner. It is not a place to go when making such an important decision in life. The person that you’ll be seeing online, you don’t know whether they are the same person or the person is a pretender. The most exact places to meet a lifetime partner, boyfriend, or even a husband should be through mutual friends, sometimes in the workplace of eve in the c=school. Someone can also find a partner through relatives. This will make it easier to know the character, attitude, integrity, and there personality (Wendi L. Gardner, 2012).
With this age of modern technology is not surprising to find out that most people form romantic relationships through the platforms since a lot of communication nowadays is done through mobile phones, laptops, personal computers, iPods, and tablets. There are social networks such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, which allow people to interact. This means that just as any other means, online dating could be as good as any other means. There are cases where someone met a person online, and they ended up marrying each other.
The reason why I could not prefer online dating is because it is not candid. How a person looks has been given a lot of attention compared to the integrity, attitude, and personality. According to dating trends, people have given a lot of attention to how a person looks rather than who the person exactly is. Dating online is very different from when the conversation with that person is face to face. This gives you time to analyze their body language and tonal variations. You can easily tell whether there is truth in that person. These is some of the things that are not possible with dating online. There is no way to personally interact with them, mostly when it comes to the opposite sex. That is the only way we can get to find more information about the person and make a decision about whether he/she is the right person. Most people are very good at impressing you (Mishna, Faye, Alan Chuckie, and Michael Saini, 2009).
I can welcome the idea of dating online because it is not that really bad. The internet can be used by people who are shy and sometimes do not know how to interact with other people. There are a lot of people who are afraid of one on one interaction with the opposite sex. Dating online can be a very important solution for them to express their emotions. This makes it easy for them to think things through before they reply. This will give them more courage to meet other friends online. It is better for them when this end up to be a romantic relationship. Though internet dating is very easy and fast, the chances of the relationship failing are very high because there is minimal communication and understanding.
