Dear Congressman
My name is Andrew McCarthy, a second-year student in a higher learning institution. I am a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, and constituent. As part of our assignment, we were required to research our representative view on important issues.
I believe that education is important in our district as it not only shapes the future of the young generation but also plays a role in reducing crime and promoting our district productivity. I would like to appreciate congress effort in promoting education by ensuring quality education to everybody. Kansas has a compulsory law that requires learners age 7- 10 to attend school. Nevertheless, I would like to know your position on the proposal of the amendment of the higher education act of 1965 to eliminate policies that undermine students’ expressive rights and transparency in colleges. Do you think this is important for our education system, especially improving access to higher learning and equal rights for all students? How will this policy address minority representation in school and their challenges? Will it create a good environment for all students?
I also have a healthcare concern that I would like to hear your views. Healthcare has improved immensely over the years. A significant number of residents have access to quality care with affordable health insurance. However, they are people who cannot afford government insurance because they live at the poverty level. Students are also victims as they have no employment to get health insurance, especially those coming from a poor background. Everybody has the right to equal access to quality healthcare. In this regard, what is your position on extending Medicare to all Americans? What bill will you propose to facilitate healthcare to all? And with democrats and republicans divided on Medicare, how will ensure such a bill passes.
