Dear Interior Minister
My name is Mathew Anderson and I would like to air my concern on the negative effects of technology on society and America at large. For instance, technology has led to the proliferation of cybercrimes where thousands of people in America have experienced problems such as cyberbullying. The offenders are using social media platforms to engage in activities that taint images of others including spreading false stories about them, hoping to achieve a certain goal. Moreover, technology has contributed to an increase in insecurity because criminals can hack personal details and use them to siphon funds from their bank accounts.
Furthermore, it has contributed to the rise in immorality because it has created a platform for criminals to perpetrate online sex crimes. For instance, sites such as Facebook have become rampant with pornographic contents which may negatively influence children. It has also influenced teenagers to engage in immoral behaviors such as sexting, where most of the text shared contains nudities.
Additionally, a significant percentage of Americans have developed mental problems due to addiction to technology. The technology addiction has consequently contributed to a decline in the quantity and quality of sleep due to the alteration of melatonin by the screen lights. The use of technological devices such as phones and computers has led to the emergence of another problem called the chronic Smartphone Stress caused by absence or presence notifications.
I have cited all these negative impacts of technology to convince you of the need to devise measures to curb the problems before they become serious. For example, you can craft a task force in charge of supervising online platforms’ activities and stop the negative ones including the posting of nudities. I believe that you have all it takes to restore sanity in the society.
Sincerely,
Mathew Anderson.
