developing a crisis management plan
Before developing a crisis management plan, a crisis management team must be selected from the community leaders, members and other stakeholders. The crisis management team in my community will comprise of different people, including the local leaders, healthcare professionals, businesses, Social welfare agencies, local media, and telecommunications organizations, among other necessary stakeholders. The criteria or strategy for identifying and selecting the crisis management team will be based on the nature of the crisis and the people’s ability to take responsibility in one way or the other in helping to deal with the situation. For instance, the community leaders will assist in mobilizing some of the essential resources necessary in addressing the coronavirus pandemic in the community. Some of these resources will include financial support, medical facilities and equipment in healthcare centres, quarantine centres for the infected persons, among other things. The healthcare professionals will engage in providing medical and mental health interventions to the victims to enhance and healing and recovery. Identifying and selecting the team of healthcare professionals will be based on their professional qualifications, skills and competence to facilitate the provision of better care to the patients. Also, when selecting the healthcare professionals, several factors such as age and health conditions that increase the vulnerability of healthcare providers to acquire coronavirus will be considered to ensure their improved safety. The social welfare agencies may help in providing essential services to the victims, such as food, shelter and clothing. COVID-19 pandemic has affected the economic status of many families, hence many of them unable to meet their basic needs. Therefore, social welfare agencies may play a significant role in helping these families to cope with the situation by offering them basic necessities. These agencies will be selected on a voluntary basis.
Additionally, business organizations in the community can offer financial support and other supportive services that are needed in the crisis management and recovery process. The business organization involved in the crisis management team will be selected on a voluntary basis and their willingness to give back to society through participation in the crisis management process to fight COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the local media and telecommunication organizations can play an essential role in providing effective communication and creating awareness about the pandemic throughout the crisis period. Communication is highly important in ensuring that the community members are well informed about the diseases, the precautionary measures, and what to do when one gets infected, among other things. All the local media and telecommunication organizations will be invited to join the crisis management team. The community members will also make a significant part of the crisis management team stakeholders. The members can help in managing this crisis through different such as financial support, providing education and creation of awareness, providing the victims with necessities, and many other things. Therefore, all the community members who are interested and willing to help in managing this crisis in one way or the other will be invited to join the crisis management team.
