Development of the U.S constitution and issues of the early republic.
The Federalist papers were the newspaper articles written by John jay, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. To be particular, Federalist paper 1 was written by Alexander Hamilton to the people of the state of New York urging them to adopt the constitution.
Hamilton anticipates a group of people who will oppose the new constitution. He states that “History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants.”
In his statement, he describes that he believes in the future greatness and success of America, he believes in an America which will become very powerful and strong that such levels of power and strength will not only corrupt the nation’s vision and purpose but also corrupt the rights of its citizens but also bring about realization the former and protect the latter. He basically looks into the future and sees the United State as a world leader which does not appear to be weird considering that at the time of his writing of the paper (1788), America was a very vulnerable county and suffered attacks from the European countries and other forms of dominations.
