Discussion about the city council meeting
The purpose of this paper is to give a clear and brief discussion about the city council meeting I watched. The document also contains some reflections on the conference and its proceedings. The papers will include some general information about the San Jose city council and then a brief summary of some of the topics discussed during the October 8, 2019 meeting. Lastly, the paper will reflect on some of the significant aspects I have learned from the San Jose council meeting.
The San Jose council meeting was held on October 8, 2019, at the San Jose city, where the city council discussed several issues that were important in the development of the town. The city council has eleven members, which also includes the major of the city. The city council is the primary legislative body. The commission is responsible for the adoption of the city budget, approving appointees of the mayor, levying the taxes as well as amending and making f the city policies, laws, and ordinances. The districts elect the members of the council in the city, which are ten. The mayor is elected at large.
The meeting started with the council member’s proclamation that declared that October was the national arts and humanities month by Carrasco. This was followed by a presentation of a declaration of the bullying prevention month by Arenas, then an explanation of declaring the international nonviolence day in the city of San Jose by Khamis, who majored on Gandhi and finally there was a presentation of a commendation of Britannia arms Alma den by Foley. The meeting lasted for an approximate of three hours, thirty-nine minutes. There were a good number of people in the audience
There were a number of items that were discussed in the meeting, including the strategic support, the community, and economic development, and neighborhood services. The vital support was more discussed. The main discussions contribute to the internal functions that enabled the CSAs to provide direct services to the community in an effective manner. In the debate about the strategic support, was presented verbally by David Skye’s. This was item number three. The presentation involved the declaration of the city of San Jose’s participation in the 2019 combined campaign of giving to the library. The labor update negotiations were also carried out where the public safety recommended the finance and strategic support committee to accept the audit on procurement card expenditures. Another discussion constituted of the Approval of the Cyber Liability Insurance Policy with Indian Harbor Insurance Company. DROP). The Recommendation provided was to adopt a resolution authorizing the Director of Finance to select and purchase a cyber liability insurance policy for the period October 9, 2019, to October 9, 2020, for a total cost not to exceed $185,000, with Indian Harbor Insurance Company, doing business as XL Catlin. The discussion also consisted of the Actions Related to the Annual Intergovernmental Relations Report. After much debate, it was decided that the Annual Intergovernmental Relations Report was accepted and Reaffirm all City positions summarized in the Intergovernmental Relations Priority Legislation Log. In addition, the Adoption of the updated Intergovernmental Relations Council reporting schedule.
There was also a discussion on the Acceptance of Retirement Plans’ Comprehensive Annual Investment Fee Reports for Calendar Year 2018. It was agreed that reports of Police and Fire Retirement Plan Comprehensive Annual Fee Report for the calendar year 2018 and the Federated City Employees’ Retirement System Comprehensive Annual Fee report for the calendar year 2018 were to be submitted.
The council members were still undecided on some issues when the meeting ended, but overall, it ended on a good note. The council members with all the attendees carrying optimism as they go out and look forward to the next council meeting. The city of San Jose is fortunate to have responsible council members to lead them. I believe that the eleven men who are leading the town right now want nothing but what is best for the city. The members of the city council carry with them not only virtues of good leaders, but also inspiring politicians.
The policy proposals that I chose to discuss in this paper will significantly benefit the city of San Jose if approved. The issues on the Approval of the Cyber Liability Insurance Policy with Indian Harbor Insurance Company and the acceptance of the Annual Intergovernmental Relations Report. In addition to the Reaffirmation of all City positions summarized in the Intergovernmental Relations Priority Legislation Log. In addition, the Adoption of the updated Intergovernmental Relations Council reporting schedule. These approvals will benefit greatly from the city of San Jose. If given a chance, I would strongly suggest the city council members approve these resolutions because the citizens of the town will benefit from them, and they both promote transparency and development.
