Discussion Forum: Peer Review for Culminating Argument Paper (Abstract, Introduction, and Conclusion)
Healthcare workers face some of the toughest mental struggles throughout their careers. For instance, nurses are the epicenter of patient care and the demanding workload increases their susceptibility to developing mental problems like anxiety. Tran et al, (2019) discuss the stressors that nurses face in their journals. Their research is supported by the scholars Pulido-Criollo et al., (2018) through their research about stress facing nursing students in healthcare institutions. The investigation of anxiety, depression, and other stressors in nurses and medical personnel is imperative because safer workplaces are created that ensure the welfare of both healthcare professionals and patients.
Medical personnel especially nurses are at risk of developing mental problems since their jobs have a demanding workload. In the present day world, these are considered stressors and their increase compromise the quality of healthcare services offered. More importantly, nurses affected by psychological stressors put the lives of their patients at risk. Whenever I am unwell, I rely on medical personnel to diagnose me correctly and any anxious or depressed nurse endangers my life. Therefore, the texts influenced my perspective on the significance of conducting investigations on possible stressors that affect healthcare personnel.
Discussing such points is essential since this helps create a safe workplace for all relevant stakeholders involved. It is my view that the text exhibits accuracy and professionalism through the language used. Reading the text challenged me since it is our collective responsibility to ensure that as much as nurses take care of us, we also ensure they operate in a safe environment and workplaces. Also, my peers need to ask themselves the consequence of having nurses impaired mentally and how this affects healthcare delivery. On this note, I agree with the text that investigating and eliminating work stressors for nurses helps create their needed work environment and atmosphere.
To conclude, nurses and other medical personnel who are not stressed at work deliver the required quality care to patients. It is therefore the responsibility of healthcare authorities to ensure that they investigate any problems that hinder nurses and other medical professionals from meeting the needs of patients professionally. Based on the above, I recommend all relevant personnel read this text since it provides stellar insight on the importance of a competent mental state.
