DSS aids in sales optimization and sales projection in an organization. A decision support system can be used as a tool for gathering and analyzing sales data and making future predictions. A DSS can help an organization know how its future in terms of sales will look like. It also analyses sales data hence knowing how a business or organization is fairing. It accomplishes this application by synthesizing data and coming up with comprehension reports making it different from other systems that just collect data. The reports are later used to solve problems on time and make informed decisions as they are made based on the reports.
Business Intelligence is used for reporting in businesses. Business Intelligence tools are used in collecting and studying unstructured sets of data whereby later, they organize and use them to come up with various types of reports. Reporting involves organizing data in summaries to aid in monitoring how a business performs. Reports here are in the form of plain information, and they show users what is happening and an explanation of why it is happening. Reporting hence helps businesses improve their performance and monitor their operations.
Analytics are a type of business intelligence used in businesses to measure and improve the performance of a business. Analytics help in measurements by analyzing data or statistics; it also interprets and communicates about meaningful patterns in data about a business. The data patterns can help a business improve its performance and make decisions as it describes and predicts a business’s performance. Data patterns help a business know how it is performing hence coming up with ways to improve its performance.

IBM Watson also Health, in partnership with Medtronic, recently launched Sugar IQ, which is an application that investigates data-driven problems of diabetes by helping diabetic patients manage their diabetes. It is of help to diabetic patients as they are subjected to daily challenges of maintaining their blood sugar level and maximum sugar intake.

Besides, Watson for Drug Discovery is another activity that is of great help to pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and medical device companies. Watson for Drug Discovery is a cloud-based platform that enables researchers to know new drug targets, hence improving their companies. IBM Artificial Intelligence has facilitated activities in the Watson for Drug Discovery healthcare by accelerating drug discovery activity. Pharmaceutical companies have spent up to 10 years introducing a new drug to the market, but IBM Watson for Drug Discovery fastened the process.
