DISCUSSION QUESTION #2
Ethics are codes of conduct that should be adhered to in all fields and thus the outline of what to be done and not done in particular areas. Therefore those involved should be much aware and familiar with codes of conduct that they should follow as it is the case with psychological research codes of conduct that should highly adhere to which are made to protect research participants from harm. The rights of the research participants should be highly respected by the psychologists as well. The psychologist should remember to honor the dignity of the researcher participants, and it means that codes and principles must be adhered to. Ethics of psychology researchers are made to ensure that the research participants are more protected from the reputation of psychology and psychologists themselves (Bush, pg.4-9).
The ethical issues in psychological researchers are debriefing, deception, withdrawal, confidentiality, protection of the participants, and informed consent. These research issues are used to protect participants since the researcher staging might cause psychological or physical discomfort to the participants the extent of serious harm. Informed consent means that the participants must be informed well before they agree to take part in the research (Strawson, pg.4-7).
In this clip, the research participants are made to fear. As a result, this fear results in that emotions show significant effects on the way the participants think, decide, and solve problems. Thus we can easily conclude that participants with negative moods are more likely to perform worse since the fear made to the participants affects the reasoning performance. Therefore it is not acceptable to scare participants when they are not aware because, as a result of the sudden fear,, it may result in physical or emotional harm to the participants,, and in the clip,, the ethic of informed consent was not adhered to (Batavia, pg.2-7).
