Countries are beginning to understand and recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion. Diversity means understanding and appreciating the differences that exist in everyone. For instance, there are people of all races ranging from African Americans to Latino. Diversity means recognizing these differences but, at the same time, appreciating and acknowledging them. According to the American council on education, diversity aids in building good citizens in a complex and pluralistic society. It aids in building teamwork and communities where members are characterized according to their actions and contributions rather than their differences. Diversity is a vital factor when it comes to leadership. Having diverse mates is not the only way students benefit from diversity at the University. When the University employs people from different backgrounds, students can appreciate their teacher more. They get the chance to acknowledge the different leadership styles from the staff and administrators. For some students, it becomes an opportunity to emulate someone from their background and cultural affiliation. It, therefore, builds character and acts as a motivating factor- hence influencing academic excellence. Diversity banks on giving everyone a chance regardless of their cultural, ethnic, or racial backgrounds. It teaches students the importance of acceptance and appreciating each other.

In conclusion, diversity is one of the most defining factors of every society. It influences the way people think and behaves towards each other. In the academic setting, diversity can affect academic excellence and success significantly. It helps build a culturally pluralistic society and one in which citizens concentrate on their uniting factors rather than their difference.
