DIVERSITY AND MY FUTURE

For this assignment I am asking you to think about diversity skills and your future, especially as you think about your career goals or your future as a student in higher education. Consider any of the following discussion questions and write a 500-word paper (+- 75 words) discussing any question or combination of these questions: 1. Research the career you plan to enter. What diversity trends are indicated? How important will diversity skills be for you? What things can you do to better position yourself to enter this career? 2. Research a company (or two) for which you would like to work. What is the company’s policy on diversity? Is it clearly stated? Is diversity important to the company? What does this mean for you? How can you better position yourself to be competitive? 3. As a consumer in many industries, what diversity trends are you seeing? What diversity trends are being projected? How might you be affected as you enter a health care system? An educational system? A political system? Will diversity skills be important? How and why? 4. How well do you feel this class has prepared you to be successful in higher education? Why are diversity skills important in higher ed? What else can you do to further prepare yourself? 5. How well do you feel this class has prepared you for participation in a global society? Do you agree that diversity skills are important? Why or why not? 6. Thinking about other classes you have taken and other experiences you have had at GCC, how have these experiences help you prepare for higher education or participation in a global society? What has been most helpful to you, and what other experiences would you like to add to your resume? Stylistic Guidelines 1. Save your paper as a doc, docx, or pdf file, and upload to Canvas. 2. A cover page is optional; however, be sure to include your name, assignment title, course information, instructor’s name, and date. 3. Use double spacing, 1” margins, and a standard 12-point font such as Times New Roman, Calibri, or Ariel (nothing wild and crazy; no sсrіpt fonts). 4. Use proper English, grammar, mechanics, sentence structure, capitalization, etc. Make use of the spell checker and grammar checker in your word processing program. Though they are not perfect, they will catch most errors. 5. Write concisely. Long and rambling sentences and paragraphs weaken your paper and will not earn more points. 6. Include a Works Cited page that lists your outside resources. Use either APA or MLA format.
