Various factor influence the development of health policies in the developing countries include a supportive policy environment, strong links of policymakers as well as the degree of independence in financing and governance. Developing and establishing a health policy might be expensive and require that the country have enough resources to fund the policy during implementation. A country with a supportive policy environment is more likely to implement the healthcare policy at ease compared to a country that does not support policy development. Another factor is the link a country has with policymakers. A country connected to policymakers has a high opportunity for developing the policies than a country that lacks the links. Developing countries should consider the above factors before implementing a healthcare policy for it to be successful.
Healthcare systems are greatly affected by policies made. Factors affecting the implementation of healthcare policies have had a significant impact on the healthcare systems of developing countries. Some of the developing countries lack strong links of policy makers which make them fail to make the needed policies for health improvement. Lack of such links has left most developing countries affected by a disease that could have been solved if the policy was implemented. Also, healthcare systems located in countries without a supportive policy environment suffer from poor decision making about the health systems since policy makers and stakeholders fail to coordinate. The healthcare systems in those countries suffer communication gap and capacity constraints. Healthcare policy guides decisions made in the healthcare systems and determines the relationship between care providers and other stakeholders. A country without health policy might lack coordinated care especially in case of an emerging health issue.
