Drug laws and Mandatory sentencing
I feel that the drug laws and mandatory sentencing are inappropriate, affecting the justice system in the states’ contrary. It is based on the server punishments that are against the individual that committed the crimes, denying them the right for justice and misuse of resources as well. For example, Julie steward describes how the server punishment affected his brother, who was judged with marijuana and had to face a five-year jail term despite viewing as something that was not too serious. Also, Timothy was sentenced for lifetime prison, having been arrested three times on SLD. The justice system denies them the way for justice through the mandatory sentencing.
I think that the war of drugs across the United States has been a failure, given that it has negatively affected most people. Individuals have been filled I prison, facing jail sentences or life imprisonment ruining their lives and future. For example, based on the information, the state of drugs has continued to worsen since the laws against drugs were enforced, making the demand high and raising the prices due to economic incentives that have been created, making the combating of drug distributors and producers difficult. Drugs in the black market have increased the crime rates, and in return, most of the young youths involved in have filled the American prison affecting their future and live. I support the alternatives stated as most young individuals will be saved, and the crime rates associated with drugs will be reduced by creating awareness for individuals in society about drugs.
