Education around the world
In many developing countries, few children are able to graduate from secondary school and many don’t even finish primary school. There are various reasons why they don’t finish school including the difficulty of acquiring the school fees. Even when tuition is free, some find it hard to get money for other expenses. Some parents or guardians are forced to pay extra fees because the quality of education is poor. The goal of this study is to determine the perception of parents regarding the quality of education. Participants were 300 parents who are low-income earners. A week before the schools re-opened, the parents were given two surveys: one of the expected outcomes of education and the challenges they are going through to raise the expected expenses. Results indicated that very few students can proceed to secondary schools due to lack of school fees and other expenses, instead of going to school, they spend a lot of time farming or selling in the market place together with their parents to raise the money required for education. Results are discussed in terms of education outcomes in developing countries and the challenges their parents have to go through to pay for education. Hence the poor quality of education in developing countries such as Ghana is poor since the majority of parents and guardians are unable to raise the amount of money needed for education. Therefore, the government needs to support the parents by creating more jobs for them.
Assignment two
I did an observation at a park during one of my nature walks. The park was filled with many people and some were hosting a birthday party. The park was calm and beautiful and everywhere was green which meant that there is no pollution. Near the far end of the park, there was a beautiful garden for children to play around with a swing and play horses. People were allowed to socialize without causing harm or making noise. Also, littering around wasn’t allowed as this could cause pollution. I noted that the park had many children together with their parents and guardians who were there to watch them so that they don’t get in trouble. Most of the children were presumed to be below 5 years as I could hear them struggling to speak. I also noted that there were more females than males in the park which I presumed that men are either video gaming or performing other duties while women play with their kids. As I was watching the kids play, their happy faces reminded me of my childhood when I would go with my mother to the park and play with other kids.
