Education system and religion
According to religion, sacred refers to the set part practices like praying with the rosary for the Catholics while profane are the practices of our day to day lives like people commuting during rush hours. Several religious items are either described as sacred and others profane. One of the objects is the rosary that is mostly used by Christians especially the Catholics. However, different religions including Christians, Buddhists, Hinduism, and Japanese used the rosary in making prayers thou the appearance of the rosary differed from one religion to another. The rosary is made of beads used to make prayers especially Hail Mary and our Lord’s prayer by Catholics and therefore almost all members have the rosary. With time, the sacredness of the rosary has faded away and has also become profane in the fashion industry where people wear the rosary without knowing its purpose.
The Bible is also a sacred object used by Christians and contains the word of God. The Bible is used during church services and other related occasions like during a marriage ceremony and funerals. The Bible is a sacred object according to Christians because it teaches them to live a religious life and avoid sinful life. However, the Bible is being used in daily activities, not only set apart occasions making it to be profane. Koran is another example of a sacred object or word according to the Islam religion. Just like the Bible, Koran is used in certain activities such as reading at the Mosque during prayer’s days, other ceremonies like marriage and funerals. The profanity of the Koran has come to be when Muslims allow other people to touch it while it wrong to do that. Also, the evolution of media has resulted in people having the Koran in their phones for use at all times.
The video focuses on the reasons why people uphold education due to economic and cultural reasons. Under economics, this prepares people for 21st-century identification and in culture, they can obtain their cultural identity. Sir Ken Robinson argues that the current model of education focuses on what people in the past and the education system only alienates success to bright students causing chaos since there are also non-smart students. He argues that children are entitled to information through the media but parents still punish their children since they are bored by school. The current system has leaned more to performance standardization while in real sense paradigm should focus on what students can do best. Also to increase creativity among students, people should embrace a curriculum that doesn’t involve stufa one correct answer. The shifting process includes destroying the myth of academic success, embrace group learning, and changing habitual thoughts.
I think the conflict theory explains the education system in America, which states that social inequality affects the education level of students. A good example is a working-class students whose education is severely affected no matter how bright the student is. If a test is announced on Monday and it’s due in Friday, the students lacks enough time to prepare for the exam due to different responsibilities and that one day he is unoccupied, he is too tired to concentrate and the mother, who works every day is tired, thus the child lacks parental motivation and assistance. On the other hand, the classmates come from rich families, therefore facilities like laptops are readily available, unlike the working-class student who seeks public library facilities.
